I am using MDM 5.5 SP6. Is there a way to automate the match/merge process so that any matched items with a level of "High" will automatically merge without a person having to right-click and select "Merge Records" on every one?
I have the 'Auto-populate on merge' property turned on, but this is only part of the manual activity.
Thanks,
Keith
Hi,
It is not possible to automate Merge process since lots of decision needs to be taken like which field value from which record is to be taken into consideration etc and care is to be taken since we are dealing with master data.

Hi Keith
It does not make "business" sense to allow automatic merging of records. Simply because the Matching & Merging strategies are themselves based on "trial & error" approach. In other words, the records that are identified as potential duplicates ("High" probability) may actually not be true duplicate records at all. These may have to be looked into more carefully. Whereas those records that are categorized in the "Low" group may actually not be duplicates at all.
Infact, the records that fall in the boundaries between "High" & "Low" and "Low" & "None" must be looked at more carefully so as to finetune the M & M strategy.
Besides, it is very critical to note that even though setting up and executing the matching & merging strategies in the SAP MDM tool are "technical" activities, the final decision of actually deciding if the records are duplicates or not and then actually merging them IS a business user activity.
Hope this clarifies.
