BW System copy without data

Hi,

We would like to perform BW system copy without any data which is 7.4 with service pack 0014 version and on HANA database.

The requirement is the business wanted to certain company codes data to be copied into New system landscape. To Carve out the S/4 system, they are going to use SAP SLO tool. As the tool takes care for S/4 system copy, we can reload the data into new system. For this we wanted to copy the existing production system into new system.

-Can you please advice what are the best option for Carve out the system data for BW.

-Can we do system copy only without any data (The new system should be replica of existing without any data in master data objects, cubes, DSO..). What are the tools we can use here for system copy without data?

-Any other best options for Carve out systems.

Also interested in this topic. While I understand we can create transports of select objects, it is not practical to use the transport connection to collect an entire system with even limited content. My experience is that it requires basis to do a database backup and restore, and there a steps to change the SIDs, ALE, BDLS, etc and then BW developers have to manually delete the data. This is a challenge as the target system must have the same size as the source system. Surely there is a better way, right?

Hi Anand,

In a standard system you might do a system copy then copy to a new client using SAP_CUST profile and finally delete source client and reorganize DB, but BW is not a standard system... 🙂

I'm going to let someone with BW expertise comment further.
