Hi Friends,

We have a requirement that need to introduce Production unit for set of materials in the live Production system SAP.

Any General precautions we need to take apart from testing operational transactions.

I feel based on my testing I do not see any issue. Please suggest.

Thanks.

Hello,

Planning happen in base unit of measure so, planned order will be in base unit of measure as per standard SP system design.

During the conversion of planned orders, the production quantity is calculated as if it is defined as the base unit of measure.

The Production Unit of Measure is only supposed to be visible in Production Orders Please read SAP note 2655486 - Alternative quantity display in planned orders

Hi Nag,

Planned order quantity will be always Base unit of measure only,While converting into production order you have alternative unit of measure as well.During production order confirmation you can also enter the Base unit of measure and alternative unit of measure.

Prerequisite of Alternate UOM:

Material master to be maintained as follows,

Planned order:

Production order 1:

You can change the unit of measure as per your requirement ,so that as per material master unit proportion will get assigned.

Hello.

I think you are talking about Production unit from work-scheduling view of material master.

I don't think there would be any impact if you update it in production system, System consider the production unit creating production/process order or conversion of planned order to production/process order.

Only base unit and production unit ratio should be defined in alternative unit of measure.

Hi Brahmankar,

Thanks for the response, Yes I have maintained Base unit to Alt.Unit conversion in Material master.

and I can see Production order QTy and Yield confirmed Quantities can be enter in terms of Production unit. And I can see

produced Quantities can be in Unit of entry and also converted to Base UOM.

But one follow up question, we can not maintain Planned order Quantity in Production unit right,?, as per your previous

replies I found Planned order qty in Base unit always. but while converting to production order, production order QTy into Production units. Please confirm.

Thanks

Nag
