Append Custom Fields to MARD & Enhancing MM01/02/03

Hi all,

We are trying to append a custom field to MARD and then enhance the view General Plant Data / Storage 2 of the material master screen. We were following the note 44410 but are stuck at more than one place

1. We were not able to update the DB table MARD with the value entered on the screen for this new field

2. The field is not going to read-only mode with transaction MM03.

Please let us know if we are missing anything or is it possible to update MARD since Note 44410 is basically saying about

updating MARA/MARC
