Hi all
Does any of you know if it is possible to integrate BusinessObjects Explorer into the SAP Portal?
I assume that I can make SSO work if I install the SAP Integration Kit, and the Portal server and BO Explorer server are in the same domain, and I do the SSO configurations mentioned in the BO Explorer guide.
But when it comes to integrating BO Explorer into an SAP Portal, I have my doubts. The iviews shipped with the SAP Integration kit can integrate CR reports and Webi reports for sure. But what about BusinessObjects Explorer? How can that be integrated?
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Martin Søgaard
Hi Martin,
to get SSO working you need to add / change the following values:
Navigate to the folder \Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\polestar\WEB-INF\classes. This path is assuming an installation on Windows using Tomcat as application server. For Unix deployments the default path would be <INSTALLDIR>/bob
je/enterprise120/java/applications
Open the file default.settings.properties with an editor like notepad.
Set the values for the properties as outline in Table 2.6.
Property Value
show.sapsystem.name True
disable.sapsystem.name False
show.sapclient.name True
disable.sapclient.name False
authentications secEnterprise,secWinAD,secLDAP,secSAPR3
hide.authentication.method False
disable.authentication.method False
to get the Information Space into the Portal you would create a BookMark which gives you the URL and then use a URL iView.

Ingo,
Thanks for these comments. I have tested this whilst onsite and we get prompted when we go into the portal. Is there another file such as sso.properties or web.xml we need to consider?
When we hit the explorer link, we are simply brought to the login page.
Thanks for your time sir!
Very Sincerely,
Steven Davis
Hello Steve,
1.) make sure SAP Portal issues a SAP Logon Ticket to the browser. How? Use a HTTP Proxy tool like HTTP Watch or Fiddlertool and look for the Cookie MYSAPSSO2.
2.) What's the userstore of the Portal and of the BO? Are the userids written the same. Check for upper/lowercase differences, just to be sure)
3.) Have you made the change Ingo mentioned in both locations he describes in his book ? I know a case where it was made only in the less often used one. And were wondering why SSO still was not working.
4.) Reboot is good. Makre sure your changes were permanent and still exist after next reboot.
5.) Try to SSO to another SAP System. Maybe there's something wrong on the Portal side.
