Multiple SAP Authentication (BW) Systems Setup in BIP 4.2 - IDs Not Merging on Import From BW

Hi,

We are having an issue when importing users and roles from a second BW system to our BIP system.

What is happening is when we import users \ roles from the 2nd BW system that we have connected new user IDs are being created in BIP, even though the same user ID already exists in BIP.

What I would expect to happen is if the user ID is the same as an existing ID it would add an alias for the 2nd BW system to the user ID. Similar to what is done when Windows AD and SAP are both configured as Authentication methods, which we have done. I would expect to see something similar to the image below. Instead we get two separate IDs, one with the Enterprise, AD and the first BW system and second with the 2nd BW system.

Can anyone confirm, is it possible to make the same IDs merge from multiple BW systems? I have been looking through the settings and documentation and have not been able to find a way to do this.

Any insight or guidance that anyone could provide would be appreciated.

Thanks! Mel

    Hi Mel,

This looks same as problem described in SAP Note https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2694847

Did you recently upgrade ? This issue has appeared recently.

    Best regards,

    Loic

    • Hi Loic,

We did recently apply BIP4.2 SP6P2, however the scenario I outlined is new for us so it is not clear if it existed with our previous version or was introduced with SP6P2.

I am going to replicate this issue in another system and apply either SP6P3 or SP7 to determine if it resolves the issue.

Thank you for pointing me to that Note, that was very helpful!

      Rgds, Mel
