Link between equipment and MPN material (HERS)

Experts,

Is there a way to create a link between the MPN (Manufacturer Part Number) and the equipment?

We would like the system to create an equipment at GR (Goods Receipt) whenever the equipment is received after an external purchase, which is done based on the MPN (material type HERS). In this way the manufacturer should be visible in the equipment master.

What would be the advised way to achieve this?
