Drill through Hierarchies in Charts SAP Analytics Cloud with Live Connection

Hello everyone,

I attended the Webinar about SAP Analytics Cloud Integration with SAP BW yesterday. Great webinar, by the way!

During the webinar I asked when drilling through Hierarchies in charts will be supported for Live Connections.

According to the answer, this is already implemented.

I can already use hierarchies in tables, as shown in the screenshot.

However, I can´t use them in charts.

We use a Live Connection to BW on HANA 7.5

Are there any specific notes for the BW needed to use this feature or why can I not use the hierarchies in charts?

Hello Frederic,

there are 2 scenarios.

Scenario #1 - the hierarchy is already enabled as default hierarchy in the underlying BW Query. Then the chart will automatically leverage it - see screen 01.

Scenario #2 - the hierarchy is not enabled by default in the query. You can then go to the filter, switch to the hierarchy, confirm it, and the chart will show the hierarchy. See screen 02 and 03.

Thank you very much Ingo, it´s working now!

I did not know that the hierachy is activated through the filter. Is this intentional? I personally think it would be more intuitive to place this option at the dimension, like it is with charts...
