Changing BOE Administrator Account

Client direcetd us to change the BOE Administrator account from “Administrator” to something different for instance “CLTADM” as an example. In my history of BO I have never done this and heard it is always a BAD idea. When the client did the last upgrade they found out that the SAP Fix Pack installation scripts are hardcoded to look for an account called “Administrator” regardless of what it is in the CMS and or you have entered during the installation initialization. It cause a partial deployment of the Fix Pack which we are still finding issues a year later. We are facing another upgrade SP5 / FP4 soon. The simple solution the team wants to implement is to rename the account BACK to Administrator during the upgrade. Then back to “CLTADM” after. I know the the BO administrator GUID does not change during the renaming. Question – WILL we be safe doing this? Will it affect any and all current reports and or system config that have been done? SAP is not helpful as they do not publish anything related to this. They did acknowledge that the Administrator name change was an issue. Can someone kindly help or provie their expereince.

First, this was a US government mandated IA finding so it was mandated. Government server security direct the renaming of standard admin account at the OS and app level.

The main issue here is that SAP has hard coded “Administrator” and if you rename the BOE Administrator, you will get errors and end up with a partial install. We have a case on this and SAP has acknowledged. They just won’t fix it fast enough. We can rename the account back. However, we would like to know of any possible issues. We know the CMC and CMS properties and security are tied to GUIDs and IDs not, attributes like name of the account. It would be nice to know if there is something to worry about in the renaming workflow.

I have a question how user name "administrator" seen in the script will impact anything? Even at server level after doing any activity you can change the password.Knowing the user name will not impact anything unless password is not protected.

I have never seen where administrator user name change is required.Let wait for others input.
