Leads tied to accounts

Hello all,

I know this is very basic for all you guys,

but i just wanted to know why When creating a lead its asking to input an account?

Hello Emmanual,

There are two options of creating a lead: With or without existing account. If you create leads because you have a new contact made, it makes sense to create a lead without a linked existing account and enter instead a 'company' and 'contact' person.

If you want to create leads without account, you have to setup the system as following:

• Show the field 'Use existing account'
• If this should be defaulted, mark the following scoping question: "Do you want to always set 'Use Existing Account' checkbox as checked during Lead creation?"

Thank you for this great answer, Just wanted to clarify that The use of "existing accounts" for leads without linked accounts should and can only be defined thru the scoping questions? what would be the best practice for a system scoped with defaulted "with existing accounts" if non admin roles are to create new leads which is "without existing account". ?
