How to change BW Client in S/4HANA

Hi All,

We had initially activated BW in our S/4HANA Dev system in client 210. We had used SAP Note# 2636754 and followed the steps. It was working correct. But due to some development restrictions in client 210 we wanted to implement, we decided to change BW client to 200.

We again followed the same note and setup BW client as 200.

Now when we try to open RSA1, we get message stating that "Logical system name has been changed for this system". The help box states - "The logical system name of this system is <dev_sid>CLNT200. However, this system was originally created with the logical system name <dev_sid>CLNT210. It is not permitted to change the logical system name, as connections to other systems will be damaged beyond repair."

To do this change, we may have to run BDLS, this brings us to below questions. Can you please give references to SAP notes we can check for this or provide us any directions as to how to resolve the issue. We want to have 200 as our BW client (earlier it was 210).

Is it allowed to change BW client to a different client once it has been set initially to one client.

If yes, what are the recommended steps for this change If we run BDLS and change the logical system as per RSA1 prompt we are getting, will it affect any other functionalities apart from BW.

Are there any SAP Best Practices available for embedded BW in S/4HANA from techincal configuration perspective.

Regards,

Mandar

Hello Mandar,

Kindly check the below KBA's.

1720687 - R3207 when calling transaction RSA1 in a BW system

2005253 - Source system not visible in transaction RSA1 or 'Logical system name has been changed for this system'
