Hi experts,
Please let me know the process to migrate 3.x DS to 7.0. Is it recomended to migrate BI objects after data loading?
While migrating the data source from 3.5 to 7.0, it will ask to migrate WITH EXPORT or WITHOUT EXPORT.
By using WITH EXPORT option we can revert back the data source from 7.0 to 3.5
(U can use tcode RSDS
Enter datasource and sources system and
from menu Datasource -> Restore 3.X datasorce)
By using WITHOUT EXPORT option we cannot get it back to 3.5
If you had migrated the data source by WITHOUT EXPORT option then its not possible to get back in 3.5.
(in that case first u should delete 7.0 datasource, then u have to reinstall 3.x datasource from source system (RSA5/RSA6) and replicate to BW)

Hi Prashant,
Here are the steps
1) Right click on 3.5 data source --> migrate.
then u will get a pop-up saying " with export" ot "without export"
With export: It migrates the data source to 7.0 and maintains the 3.x datasource structure in RSDS tables. If you use this you
can retrieve the datasource to 3.x .
Without Export: It deletes the transfer and communication structures and creates the transfer structure in 7.0. You can't retrive
to 3.x.
2) If there are any routines written on transfer rules SAP recommend to take a copy of routines and then migrate it
Right click on Transfer rules -> say create transformations.
3) Right click on Info source --> select 'migrate'.
4) If there are any routines written on update rules SAP recommend to take a copy of routines and then migrate it
Right click on update rules -> create transformations.
