If I create a report in CR 2008 I can run it and Refresh it then, when I post it to the server I select Save data with report. I then, (On the same machine) Open the CR Viewer 2008 and open the report from the server. It display's perfectly and I can Print it and even send it to a PDF. but, when I try to refresh the report is when I get the error.

Yup... That sounds about right.

What you are seeing in the viewer is the saved data... not data from the data source.

When you run a report from you local development machine it is relying on the login credentials and connections on your local machine... For example:

If the connection is being based on windows authentication, your credentials are being passed to the DB server and the report runs. Once you move that out to the CR Server that no longer works.

What we did... we created a CR Server user on our domain and gave it the necessary permissions to access what ever DB needs to be reported from. Then just use that for login credentials in the connection setup.

And like I said before, make sure the connection on the server is the same as it is on your local machine.

Even if all of that checks out... CRS can just be a pain in the neck!!! The errors it kicks back are tough to decipher at best and have nothing to do with the real issue at worst.

Good luck,

Jason

I have been using difrent user names and logins to try to get the report to refresh.

Is there any way to create or see a log file that could tell me what is happening here?

Probably... I just don't know how to do it myself. Sorry.

Robert,

If you are using an ODBC type connection made sure the it is also setup on the server as a System DSN.

Hi,

What version of Crystal are you running on you machine and what version are you running on the server?

What database are you connecting to?

Does this happen with all reports or just some?

If you are running Crystal Reports from the server, can you create a new report and does that run properly?

Thanks,

Brian
