Hi,

We made an upgrade from ERP 4.7 to ECC 6.0, and our ESS don't work. Do we need to install another version of the ESS ?. The actual ESS installed works with the stand alone ITS and as release ECC 6.0 it don't wotk any more, we need to use the integrated ITS, but we don't know if the ESS works with the integrated ITS or we need to use the ESS version that works with Webdynpro for Java.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Carlos.

Carlos,

For SAP Integrated ITS As of SAP NetWeaver 2004s, all ITS-based applications must be operated using the SAP integrated ITS.

For this reason, you must convert or replace ITS-based applications that use one of the programming models ITS Flow Logic or WebReporting and should be operated in a NetWeaver 2004s system (or higher).

As of Release 6.40 of the SAP Web Application Server, a large part of the SAP ITS was integrated into the kernel of the SAP WAS. For that, you no longer have to install or use separate ITS as of Release 6.40.

The SAP ITS 6.20 cannot be used to connect to systems based on SAP NetWeaver 2004s (7.00) or higher. If you use ITS 6.20 to try to log on to systems based on SAP NetWeaver 2004s (7.00) or higher, the process terminates and an error message is issued(Note 905135). You can nevertheless integrate applications that are operated using an ITS 6.20 into an SAP Enterprise Portal based on SAP NetWeaver 2004s or higher.

For ITS-based ESS services in SAP ERP2005 The functional scope of ESS will be ensured by SAP. SAP recommends using ESS based on Web Dynpro (Java). ESS services that are not available on Web Dynpro Technology yet will be converted to integrated ITS or replaced by newer or alternative SAP products. Therefore, the complete functional scope of ESS can still be used.

All ESS application based on the Standalone ITS that were replaced by new applications based on Web Dynpro (Java) will no longer be maintained by SAP as of SAP ERP 2005. As an alternative, we recommend the use of the relevant ESS Web Dynpro (Java) applications.

The following international ESS applications based on Standalone ITS have been or will be converted to integrated ITS Version 6.40, and can still be used with SAP ERP 2005. You can integrate these applications using ESS Homepage Customizing if required:

For ESSMSS BP

The roles for SAP ERP 2004 and SAP ERP 2005 use the same system aliases in the standard system. To run both roles in a parallel portal, you must rename the system aliases for one role. For this, create a delta link copy of this role and change the system aliases in the iViews in this role. The other role remains unchanged.

The SAP ERP 2004 roles must be linked to XSS 500 on J2EE 6.40. For this, the system alias "SAP_WebDynpro_XSS" (or the newly created system alias) must point to J2EE 6.40. Furthemore, you must create the JCo destination between J2EE 6.40 (with XSS 500) and ECC 5.0 in SLD (system landscape directory).

For the SAP ERP 2005 roles, install XSS 600 on EP NW04s. For this, the system alias "SAP_WebDynpro_XSS" (or the newly created system alias) must point to EP NW04s. Furthemore, you must create the JCo destination between EP NW04s (with XSS 600) and ECC 6.0 in SLD (system landscape directory).

Hope this will give an Idea. let me know if any confusions

Carlos,

Ideally, you would have to upgrade your business package for ESS as well because the ITS based applications would not work.

Refer to Note 709038 - SAP Integrated ITS

Note 870126 - ITS-based ESS services in SAP ERP2005

Note 1034385 - BP ESS/MSS ERP2004 and ERP2005 on EPNW04s

Hope this helps.

Cheers!
