Hi,
We have CI + 2APP servers.
Last month ASCS was not able to distribute the load to the other app servers when the instance overloaded with foreground processes. We have a PI/PO from where the invoicing is done via our own legacy system. This invoices when it comes to ECC it hits our ASCS instance directly and then gets distributed to the APP servers. And there might be a possibility that this was the reason of our workprocess getting hung. So for future or next month end and year issues we are possibly looking for a change and on the OS front we are increasing our CPUs and RAM which were 16 and 64Gb on our ASCS.( just doubling it). And also changing the parameters like abap/heap_area_nondia; dia and total to double of what is existing. So my query are as follows:
1) Will this be sufficient to over come the month end hickup that we faced or do we need any further changes??
2) Is there a possibility that we could change the invoices to directly flow to our application servers rather than to hit the ASCS instance and then get distributed?
I welcome your suggestions.
Thank you.
Hello Ambarish,
It is not possible for any community member to answer question 1 - we can't see into the future :).
For question 2, this is unlikley. However we don't really have enough information here. What type of traffic is this, HTTP, RFC etc? What is the end to end flow of the interface in question (Sender Adapter type and Receiver Adapter type)? Do you have a Web Dispatcher or a Load Balancer tool installed?
You will find a lot of good information on performance issues and tuning recommendations in the note 894509 PI Performance Check.
This note should also be applied - see 1724179 Configuration Wizard: PI HTTP Load Balancer (but this will only help HTTP traffic).
Some additional information also in note 2629275 Load Balancing in PI without a Web Dispatcher
Regards
Mark
