Client Size in ECC & SRM

Dear Expert,

There is a proposal to create new client in QAS & perform a Client copy from production system.

Before that I was evaluating space availability at operating system level whether it can accommodate new client or not.

I have to check size of the production client which I am not able to determine. In DB02 database size is 270GB.

I am not sure whether DB02 reflect client size or not. I have gone through note 118823 as per which we should perform test copy which will give client size.

Is there any other option where we can determine client size please?

Regards

Santosh

Hi,

You can determine the size and the storage requirement of your clients with reports RSTABLESIZE or RSSPACECHECK.

Hi Santosh,

As said abiove you can use RSTABLESIZE from se38 and execute. Then select the client for which you want to calculate the size and in tablename give * and execute

It will run for some time and will display the result as size of each table. Export the same to excel and can calculate the client size. The total size of all tables will give client size.

Also, after doing the test run, from scc3 log you can get the size required for doing a client copy from production to quality from Details tab.

Other way is you can estimate by when was the last client copy done from production to quality and after that what is the average growth of database in production and based on that you can estimate the space required in quality.

Thanks & Regards,

Hello Santosh,

DB02 reflects your database size. Client is a logical unit and cannot be segregated as such by database. Note 118823 gives standard proceedure for this. Can't think of anything more appropriate unless and until you write a custom ABAP report.
