Dear Gurus..

In my scenario i am planning at two level one is Finish product which is mfg in Packing and one is Seminished product which after production used in various Finish Product .

Now i am creating First Plan for Semifinish material for which i m creating Ind Req throught MD61

Then MRP and normal Production for stock.

But here problem is My ind. requirement is not consuming though i issue my semifinish material for Finish material.

So i am geting again Ind req and if i run MRP it wil create new planned order.

How to avoid this...

Please suggest me which strategy wil be useful for such planning sceanrio of Finish and semifinish.

Hi,

No need to go for any strategy planning at Semi Finish Level.See req. of Semi finish material is driven directly through Finish Material in the form of Dep. Requirement.

Hi,

1) First of all what is need for maintaining strategy to SFG

2) Just maintain Strategy either MTS or MTO for FERT ( based on Business )

3) Now run MRP for FERT, system will drive Dependent requirements automatically by exploding BOM

and create procurement prasopals for SFG as well as ROH

Please Undertsand my Scenario

1. I have to create Demand For semifinish materia first

2. MRP for semifinsih and its dependant req.(ROH)

3. Then Demand for Finish material

4. MRP Run for its Dep req. which exclude its Semifinish , only ROH & VERP

I can not Directly create demand of Finish ....i need to first plan semifinish material then finish.

Dear,

In most industries Semi finish material is plan (produced) earlier then Finish product. And Raw material used for it are procured before its production of semi finish material take place. But to achieve such scenario no need to go for separate strategy planning for semi finish material.Once you start the planing for finish material system simultaneously plan for the BOM components too.If all your master data are maintain correctly (lead time,GR Processing time, etc for each materials) then you will gets all the planing proposals accordingly.Procument and production dates will flow in below way,

ROH>Halb-= SPM-> FERT

If still you are not satisfied with the above scenario then go for reorder point planing for semi finish material. But maintaining PIR for semi finish material is not a right way to plan for the semi finish material.

Dear Dhaval...

Actually i am working with Agro Chemical industry..whre semifinish is the material which they produced in BUlk and then packing wise use for saleable material(finish material)

So we treat that material as Semifinish material.

Now busines sceanrio is they use to plan Thre BULK MATERial (Semifinish ) with some damand for six or an year then qaurtet planning for this materail..

Then seperate planning for finish material (packing)

So i need to plan semi finish material first with some demand

SO i am in trouble that it not consuming ind req ....

Abhisapp,

Any level of the BOM can be forecasted if it makes business sense. Forecasting at multiple levels of the BOM can be done, but it adds complexity to the planning process, and is usually not advisable. From your last post, it sounds like you only intend to forecast at SFG level.

The scenario you are describing for your BULK parts sounds like standard strategy 70. This strategy can work if the FG is MTO or MTS.

In this strategy, the consumption takes place when a production/planned order is entered against the FG part. Reduction of the forecast takes place when you issue components to the FG production order.

So, enter PIRs against SFG parts. Run MRP, creates planned orders for SFG. Start building. At some points, receive parts into SFG stock.

Sales order is entered for FG. Nothing happens to your forecast.

MRP runs for FGs. FGs planned order is created. Planned order creates dependent demand against SFG. THIS consumes the SFG forecast.

Convert the FG planned order to Prod order

Issue SFG stock to the FG prod order. THIS reduces the forecast..
