New / Custom Movement type creation

Hi All ,

Could you please give me some scenarios where we need to create custom movement type ?

If the table level information is given will be additional help .

Dear Friend,

New movement type runs parallel with your business needs,there may be various business scenarion where you want to distinguish between standard movement type and customized...

1) Like in my case what I've done is created 2 movement types similar to 541,542 respectively....

We were sending equipments to repair to vendor through 541 and then receive back thru 542...Since these two mvmts(541 & 542) are used in case of subcontracting it was hard to distinguish between subcontracting and repair procedure...hence we created two new mvmt type for the purpose......

New movement type surely depends upon the scenario and the need for the movement type...

Note:-You cannot create a new movemnet type for a new business transaction there are some limitations on it,

Well can you please give some more technical information . Whether you changed some technical fields also or to distinguish between the two movement you used a different name ?

Greetings!!!

Yes There are some filed which I change ..like changeing the reason for the movement,movement text.....

some technical fields it involves is to create auto storage location,allowed transactions,...

Also for that particular movement type make some compulsory fields like field SGTXT for some text input to distinguish the transaction....

Also to track the movement I also make some changes by adding some more fields from MSEG table in MB51 report which can easily help in tracking the transaction.....

Again revert back if any doubts from my side...

Thanks for the information .. Actually I know the configuration settings and the movement type customizing . I was interested in knowing more and more business examples where in the new movements are created .

Anyways the information from you is very helpful . But lets see if I get more information ..
