Help : error during migration from XI ti XI 3.1

Hello,

one colleague did a mystake during the upgrading process from XI to XI 3.1 : no repository was migrated, and he had deinstall BO XI !!

So now I have an empty Bo XI 3.1 without any universe and reports, and only my original oracle instance (BO_1) and filestore folder of BO XI.

I Try to copy the content of BO_1 with the CCM, but I got only one server, called myservername.cms. There is not server like inputfilerepositoiryserver or connectionserver...

I'm wondering if these servers wasn't delete from XI repository when my colleague deinstall BO XI ? do you have suggestion in the way to migrate my XI repository.

Hi Dennis.

I dont know if i understand you well.

You can make a backup of XI FRS and database (this step is very important).

Then you can copy de XI FRS to XI 3.1 FRS and use the XI repository database as XI 3.1 repository database.

Later from CCM update all the objects in repository.

thanks for you answer. what do you mean but FRS ? is the filsstor folder ?

another problem is when I open my Xi 3.1 CMC, under server, I see only one server. In other apllication, we have serveral servers. any idea ?

Hi Dennis.

FRS = File Reporitory System.

You can copy the folders and files from IFRS and OFRS (Input and Output FRS) XI to FRS XI 3.1

You can add servers from CMC.

You can find more information about this in page 146 in "xi3-1_bip_admin_en.pdf".

Hi jaime,

is there a way to avoid manual server creation ? because it appears to be a long process, may be dangerous.

I assume that the server are in XI 3.1 repository because they are created with the CMC, and they don't exist in XI repository because they are created in the CCM.

If I use the upgrade process, BO will automatically create all required servers.

My 2 options are :

1- Reinstall BO XI 1, link the repository to my original repository and FRS, then launch the upgrade process to XI 3.1

2- Create manually all servers in XI 3.1

any suggestion ?

OK, the best way out of this situation is :

1. Make backup of the remaining XI CMS DB

2. Make backup of XI FRS store directories

3. Creatre new empty schema in Oracle and using XI3.1 tools (CCM) create a new SIA(node) pointing to that new schema.

Use option to create all default servers.

4. Once this is done and if new SIA can start and you can connect to CMC and Infoview - do a CMS DB copy from your original XI CMS DB to the new XI3.1 CMS DB.

5. Copy original FRS directories to the new ones under XI3.1

6. Run Update Objects from CCM.

If your XI CMS DB is valid and OK, you should be alright, if it was damaged by this failed upgrade, you'll need to restore it from backup prior to the Upgrade and then complete steps above.

Please review Upgrade Guide and XI3.1 Admin guides prior to performing this as certain architectural concepts have changed between versions and you need to be familiar with new architecture.
