Hi Experts
I created a Webi on top of Bex query and some field values in webi are displayed in a diff manner. Please check the below example
Eg:-Bex Display for Emp Key; Emp Name
Emp Key Emp Name
1 Martin
Webi Display
Emp Key Emp Name
223/1 223/Martin
I checked my Bex query and we have a filter called System=223.
1.Why it is combining with that filter and displayed in Webi
2.I can truncate 223 in my Webi but the problem ,we have too many fields in that manner and also in so many reports and it's not a best way to do it.What's the best way to solve this
Please guide me how to resolve and reason behind this problem.
Two years on...
Is there any resolution for this in newer versions? I'm using BI4.0 SP2. and a BICS connection. I have a compound characteristic where the first part is Chart of Accounts, which means nothing to the users.
Any sort of manipulation at the report level is of no use to me.
Is this something that can be done in BEx?

In SP5,
SAP has come with a solution for the compounding issue.
See the link below-
Hi Jack,
could you check if this is what is called a compounded characterisitc in BW ?
thanks

Hi Ingo,
Thx for the reply
I tried that option earlier but i think it will be good for 1 or 2 fields.
My report contians more than 20 fields like that and 10 of them as a free characters. In this case again i need build 20 formuals and user will be in a confused state with so many fields and drilldown will be a mess.
Is there any other best pratice or any tweak that i can do in Universe level. Please guide me...
Thanks

Hi Jack,
Not entirely sure but have you tried creating those formula fields using some sort of substring functions at the Universe level itself. Perhaps Ingo can confirm if this is possible at all at the universe level. As an example, lets say that fiscal variant is compounded to fiscal year and on the WEBI side, the values that get displayed are 'V1/2010', where 'V1' is the fiscal variant value. So a new field defined at the universe level, that contains a substring of the value for the fiscal year characteristic '2010' instead of 'V1/2010'. This new field can then be used at the report level and all that would be displayed is the fiscal year value only.
Hope it helps.
Cheers,
Ravs
you need to use the combined values for a LOV - as mentioned previously
As of now we are following the same thing but user has so many complaints. As a developer i dont have any answer for this kind of problem as its a tool problem and waiting for SAP to resolve these kind of problems.
eg:-For a distrubtion channel -01
Prompt is showing -323133/01
Thanks
