Anyone else misses release notes for ADT?

Hello ADT lovers,

There is a new version(2.68.4) of the ABAP Core Development Tools plugin available, but again without any release notes. I googled for ADT 2.68.4 to see if someone had posted something, but no luck.

Release notes help me decide the question, " Do i update ASAP or do i wait until the next major release?"

Does anyone else faces the same dilemma? Shouldn't the (minor) releases be provided with release logs?

What are your thoughts?

BR,

Suhas

Hi Suhas,

typically we only provide bug fixes with the minor ADT releases and no features.

Thomas.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the reply. Maybe it would be helpful if we knew which bugs have been fixed 😄

Anyway, keep up the good work! Waiting for the next killer features in the next ADT big release.

Hi Suhas,

that is not so easy to provide. Because most of the issues is a mix of client changes and backend corrections.

Maybe a list of related OSS notes would be helpful?

Regards,

Thomas.

Hi Thomas,

a mix of client changes and backend corrections

By client changes you mean changes in Eclipse client, isn't it?

For e.g., the behavior of the "Block selection" was changed in ADT 2.68 but has been corrected with a minor release. But i have no idea with which release 😞

I had reported the bugs i had found in the initial release of 2.68 here: https://answers.sap.com/questions/41261/index.html. I am not sure if the "Templates" problem has been solved in the meantime.

IMHO it'll also help me to decide to update immediately or wait until the next major release.

I hope you get the point.

Suhas

+1 the request. I know from talking to Armin that your group is working on some fixes for the OS X debugging. It would be nice to know if they are fixed.

Sometimes, with other software that do document point releases, I get to learn about features that I never knew existed too. I know most would say - "Read the documentation", but this is a nice way to get pleasant surprises 🙂
