This is the error from sapstart.log

Hi Mads,

The symptom is slightly different from the one described in note 1134777. Did you check for existence of igswd_mt? If it is missing, follow note 937000 to install IGS.

Hi,

I think you have upgraded kernel wrongly. Hope if it is ECC 6.0 the Basic kernel version is 114, while upgrading

I have got the same error where I committed mistake in kernel upgrade.

1. For ECC 6.0 the Basic Kernel was 114 so I wanted to upgrade to 159.

2. While upgrade I just extracted the Kernel part I and Part II in a folder and renamed the folder as NTAMD64.

3. Here was the mistake that the base folder \usr\sap\SID\SYS\EXE\run\NTAMD64 will have other important files like igs, igsexe.lst ,igsmanifest.mf,igsmux_mt,igspw_mt,igswd_mt from installation set which is not available in the kernel zips.

4. Always Uncar the kernel files inside the Kernel directory so that the new files will overwrite the old and the other unchanged files will remain active in the directory.

5. If you have the Back up of old Kernel folder you can try this.

It's running on IBM system i5. There are internal tools for unpacking the SAR files. You are describing a windows scenario.

Hi Mads,

if you still do have issues with starting SAP, I would recommend to patch the start porfile and comment the IGS lines => it will work ... then you can later check on finxing the root cause ..

... even when I typically always deactivate IGS on non-BW and non-SolMan exactly because of this reason.

I had this problem too.

I reinstalled IGS as noted in SAP Note 937000.

After this, I have completed the installation with:

RMVSAP SID(<SID>)

APYSAP TYPE(*KERNEL) SID(<SID>) DSTLIB(<KERNEL_LIB>)

and SAP started without problems.

It seems that every kernel upgrade requires IGS reinstallation.
