Recover Deleted Folder in Business Objects Enterprise Console

Former Member

A user accidentally deleted a folder full with reports and their history while using the Business Objects Enterprise Console. Is there a way to recover this folder? I have a copy of last nights backup of the database and I have restored the data with it and that did not solve the problem.

Can anyone help?

Hi Scott

Did you have the LCM biar backup , if you have it then we can restore the files with out using the CMS db and frs folder.

if you only have CMS DB , it wont be helpful , we cant restore it any way, it needs File store too.

Thanks & Regards

Unfortunately I do not have a backup of the filestore folder. I restored the database with the last backup and I can see the reports but can't schedule or look at the history for any of the reports in that folder. I get

"An error has occurred: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80042A4A."

You unfortunately can't recover the files unless you (also) have a filestore backup.

What you see are only pointers to reports that should exist (but don't) on the filestore.

Hi,

you not only need the backup of the database.

You also need a Backup of the filestore...do you have one ? If yes doe the following:

- Dump de CMS DB setup into a seperate shema

- copy the backup of the filestore to the file system of the server

- point the sia to the backup of the CMS DB backup shema

- point input and output frs to the backup directory of the frs backup

- via import wizard import the folder to a .biar file

- point the sia and frs back to its original location

- import the biar

Technicaly no, it's impossible to re-create CMS DB from just the filestore.

CMS Db is a central hub of information, filestore just holds reports and instances....

Do you heard about a WID Scanner?

Thanks for your help!!

No, i'm not familiar with that tool and it looks it needs CMS DB to read Webi report info/location in FRS.

Since you have to CMS DB - I fail to see how it will help.

Try contacting this tool author for more details.

There is no other option.

Reports stored in FRS are stored with security, since original CMS DB is gone - there is no way to re-create that security and you will not be able to open those reports with CR designer or Webi Rich Client if you attempt manual recovery.

CMS DB backup is the only way to get your system back !
