Targets days supply

Hi Gurus,

Please let me know on targets days supply in PP DS and the effect of it on planning. what are the necessary settings to be maintained for achieving the same ?

Hi Prashanth,

Target days of supply will be used in PPDS especially during

planning using standard heuristic SAP_PP_002 ie planning

using standard lots.

The pre-requisite setting to operate this functionality is that

you need to select the target stock level method in the

material master of APO.

Target days of supply will be maintained in number of

work days.

Can you please elaborate more on it.

I have given targets days supply as 4 days and method as to maintain from product master.Eventhen it is not generating orders considering the targets days supply.

Moreover plz clarify in one more thing: What would be the impact of maintaining SAP_PP_002 ( planning of standard lots) in Product master. Wouldl it be only considered at the time of procurement planning? How it will consider, if we are rumming PPR using SAP_MRP_001.

Hi Prasanth,

In APO the requirements is rolling that is if you have Forecasting then the forecast for a month it is

disaggregated into days or weeks hence if you plan to have a safety stock planning done by APO this method

of maintaining Target days helps to maintain the stocks at the location all the time so if you define 4 days

as the Target days of supply then at all time Heuristics run or optimizer run will ensure that stocks are

there to meet the requirement of next 4 days as is in your case. In case of shortfall system will generate

a requirement on the Source plant based on the transportation lane.

Settings are maintained in Product Master under Lot size tab (Quantity and date Determination).

My doubt is like what would be the impact of maintaining SAP_PP_002 in product master ( Is it only considered at the time of procurement ) and how it will behave at the time of running planning run with SAP_MRP_001 ?

For targets days suppy doubt, appreciate if you could come up with a small example.
