SLD configuration for different SAP application servers

Hi,

During the process of configuring SLD, I have three different Application servers. SAPDEVDB, SAPQSDB and SAPPRDDB one each for DEV, QAS and PRD respectively. Do I first need to add these systems in the SLD Data Supplier with the right parameters

like Port number and Host name, test the connection in the Visual Administrator separately and then configure the SLD Landscape Directory?

I am in a learning curve with Netweaver Portal. Any inputs shall be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

VG

Dear Vinu,

You have to make sure is to have an installed sld, the configuration of the systems in the same can be made at any time, is more for most of the functionality of the portal is not necessary to have declared the systems in the sld, you need it for example if you use jco with java web dynpro for consume bapis from ecc via rfc.

Hi Damian,

Thanks. Sorry for lack of clarity here. I do understand that configuring the SLD land scape directory is about adding system ids like the three different application servers when the necessity arises like functionality of SAP ECC system interacting with the portal application. My question is should I need to declare the three application server systems separately first in SLD Data Supplier and then add them in the SLD directory one by one?

In that way we have set up separate connections for DEV, QAS and PRD environment with the portal application. Am I thinking right here?

Thanks in advance,

HI,

During installation one of the system will be considered for SLD say SOLMAN. If SOLMAN is considered for SLD for all other systems, then all the systems ECC DEV,ECC QA, ECC PRD , EP DEV, EP QA, EP PRD, BI DEV, BI QA , BI PRD and any other systems will be apperared in its landscape ,when logged and seen on SOL with the URL : http://solman:<port>/slduser.

Now they are not created manually system by system in the landscape... All the systems are seen in the dropdown list of SLD .Also in the backend system of SOLMAN ,,,we execute the transaction RZ70.

So, In Portal DEV, Portal QA, and Portal PRD ,,,,in VA , Datasupplier ,,, the http properties , and data supply test and client test you will be giving the Solman details.

i,e when created JCo in portal --- it retrieves system ids from the SLD SOLMAN ....and create give the necessary user details of the Backend system to create.

Also , if for a local installation, say for two systems, ECC and Portal ,,, you can consider Portal system for SLD , then you will give the Portal details in the Data supplier, and the ECC system can be seen in the SLD of the portal sytem.

Thanks,
