Negative postings.... version difference

HI gurus,

please help me on the below.

1. can SAP accepts Negative postings?

2. What is the main difference between Version 4.7EE and ECC6.0

3. what is the importance for version maintain in controlling? why do we use a common version0 even more versions available in the system?

Hi

Yes we are doing the negative posting in SAP through setting in IMG.

Following are main difference between Version 4.7EE and ECC6.0

1. ECC 6.0 enables Business area posting - Segment reporting made easy.

2. Profit center accounting is through new GL.

3. Document splitting: Split of entry to post assets and liabilities to respective profit centers. (Balance sheet items)

4. Enables commitment of FM, improved CRM feature & Mobile sales feature

Regarding version mabnagement

A collection of fiscal year-dependent indicators for plan and actual data for one controlling area. These indicators include:

u2022 Integrated planning or line item update

u2022 Copying allowed

u2022 Exchange rate type

u2022 Value date

u2022 Integration of order plans with Cost Center Accounting

u2022 Purely iterative activity price

u2022 Methods for calculating planned activity prices

u2022 Methods for calculating actual activity prices

Versions enable we to have independent sets of planning and actual data.

In planning, we use versions to configure alternative scenarios based on different assumptions. For example, the different versions can represent different employment markets, price and wage increases, or sales programs.

We normally configure the most likely scenario in version 000. The plan data we enter there forms the basis for calculating planned prices for activity types, and determines the rates with which activities containing actual amounts can be settled. Version 000 also contains all actual data postings. The plan and actual data for version 000 can be used in plan/actual comparisons and variance analysis.

We make settings for version maintenance on a hierarchical basis.

In this IMG activity we edit the general version definition on the client level.

u2022 We make controlling area settings in the IMG for the Cost Center Accounting, Overhead Orders, or Activity-Based Costing components.

u2022 We make profitability segment settings in the IMG for the Profitability Analysis component.
