Deletion Indicator-Batch Master Record

Former Member

Hi,

I have set the deletion indicator flag on for a batch of material in a plant.

Now, when I try to recreate the batch,I get an error messgae saying Batch already exists.

I guess unless we archive the batch master record,I wont be able to recreate it.

If yes, please let me know which program is used to archive batches.

Thanks,

Kaveri

if you would be able to recreate it, then you would receive a SQL error that you insert a duplicate record in the database.

the key for the batch record is the batch number.

Why do need to re-create it? why dont you just change the existing one?

Hi Jurgen,

Thanks for your reply. The user wants to delete & recreate because of some reason.

In this case, could you advise how to remove the existing batch from the database records?

Thanks

the only way to remove batches physically from SAP is thru archiving with transaction SARA for object MM_SPSTOCK.

This requires customizing and is usually a process rather than an ad-hoc activity.

Main purpose of Archiving is to keep documents for many years but off the SAP database. Usually you can access archived documents from SAP transactions for analysis, hence you have to have a strategy where you want keep the archived data, especially needed for external auditors.
