Optimization by using all field

Hi

Please advise suppose we have a database table with key field

FIELD1

FIELD2

FIELD3

In the selection criteria i have o nly field1 and field2

When doing select we will use field1 and field2 + field3 = empty dummy ranges.

Will this optimize the select
