SAP_CR has encountered a problem and needs to close

Hi,

I have a client currently using SAP B1 2007 SP00 PL47.

They have multiple SAP B1 companies set up.

SAP Crystal Report(CR) integration Add On is installed.

Crystal Report 2008 is also installed.

My client logon to SAP company A, run a report from the CR Add On.

While waiting, he then logon to Company B and do other work.

Then he received a message "SAP_CR has encountered a problem and needs to close". we are sorry for the inconvenience.

Note that

1. the error only happens when my client logon to 2 companies at the same time.

Has anyone encountered that problem before?

Hi,

This is a known issue with many add-ons when users switch companies. Since the add-on may still look up the info through the first company, the error message would not be avoidable. I don't see any easy solutions so far. Probably you need to try to lower users' expectation on the matter.

Thanks,

Gordon

I know this is a couple of months old but it was the only result that came up in Google and relates to exactly the problem we are having with the exception a user is not trying to open more than one company at a time. We have the same version of SAP as the original poster to this thread, SAP Business One 2007, and are trying to load up Crystal Reports 2.0.0.7 integrated add-on. All other Add-Ons install and load fine when the user has logged in but not the Crystal Reports add-on. The add-on is set to start automatically but it does not and when I go into the Administration - Add-Ons - Add-on Manager the Crystal Reports for SAP Business One has a Status of "Connecting" and the Group is showing as "Automatic". When I highlight the addon and attempt to click "Start" to force it to start the same popup appears saying "SAP_CR has encountered a problem and needs to close.". At the same time as this keeps happening I check the computer's normal event error logs and I get the following event:

-

Event Type: Error

Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting

Event Category: None

Event ID: 5000

Date: 23/02/2010

Time: 09:44

User: N/A

Computer: OBIWAN

Description:

It looks as though it relates to an ASP.net issue but the machine has the latest 3.5 Dot Net installed. I have attempted to un-install and re-install SAP B1 and the Crystal Add-on (as well as the dot net framework too) three times now and each time the same popup keeps appearing. Please can anyone help solve this problem? Thank you very much for any help. I appreciate it.

Kind regards

Matt

Hi Matt,

1. Do you encounter the same problem if you login as Administrator? - this will help determining whether it is a security issue.

2. Is this problem happen to only one machine or all of them? - this will help elimitating PC specific issue

3. This post has its status as closed, ie, with the green star next to it on the forum list, I am not sure whether you will get much response. If you do not receive much response, consider create a new thread.

Gordon,

Thanks for your prompt response.

I think it is a reasonable expectation from a client that more than one companies can be logged on and work properly.

It is just like a user can open 2 Microsoft Excel application and it does not crash.

It would be great if the initial design taking that at more depths. However, only if all info exclusively exist in SBO-COMMON, the problem might be prevented.
