Peformance of Creating Extra fields in Y-table

Hi experts,

Here in My company my project manager wants me to add 2 more fields for a table what ever we create. He told us that if any user asks for a field in future then adding fields that time may cause data loss. But I feel it as unnecessary creating extra fields in a table. Anyway we can add the fields later and then adjusting the table through SE14 is enough I think. So that we cannot have unwanted fields in our table.

Anybody pl suggest me which is the Best practice. 1. Creating table with addl. fields or 2. Creating with exact need and adding when ever require.
