Hi Experts,

What is the difference between manual and automatic reorder point planning...

Also how system calculate reorder point and safety stock for both the scenarios.......what are those calculation base...where are those written....

My requirement is something like; a child component A is being used in say two parent material B and C, now we are creating demand/requirement of B and C through MD61...but we want reorder point and safety stock of A should be calculated automatically based on the some % of demand generated for B and C

Hi,

As the name implies, you have to manually enter the reorder point and safety stock manually in the material master for Manual Reorder point planning whereas for automatic you need not.

The base for calculation is past consumption value as Reorder point planning is a Consumption based planning.

Reorder point planning maintains the stock level low, because the forecast is carried out at regular intervals, the levels are continually used to the current consumption.

Dear SAP MM,

For the child component A maintain the historical data. ie past consumption in forecasting view and select model as J automatic model selection. In mrp type maintain VM automactic reorder point and service level in mpr2 view. By this this settings system will automatically calculate the reorder point.

In manual reorder point, you must define the reorder point (and eventually the safety stock) according to your criteria.

For automatic, these values are estimated by SAP as a function of the forecast (coming from historical data), so the

base-quantities for the calculation of the reorder are not fixed but dynamic.

Use Manual reorder point VB & maintain Safety stock ,Lotsize HB and maximum stock level9 quantity.
