Registering CCMS agent to Central Monitoring Systems

Dear Expert,

I've some doubts regarding CCMS agent & Central Monitoring System (CEN). Solman administration is quite new for me.

currently my Solman system working as CEN, but I noticed the SAPCCM4X agent from satellite systems are not registered on our SolMan. I check in RZ21, CEN are connected to the satellite system via the 2 RFC connections under the remote system connection, is this the correct way?

can I say that there is 2 way to connect to CEN?

1. register SAPCCM4X to solMan CEN, or

2. create data collection & analysis RFC to remote system?

I am really confuse, please guide me.

Please find the following excerpt from the CCMS Agent guide from SAP

SAPCCM4X agent provides an alternative connection route to the monitoring information in the shared memory of an ABAP instance. As this alternative connection method does not require a free work process, the access method is independent of error states of the SAP instance and is therefore more robust.

The central monitoring system automatically first attempts to read data from the monitored system through the RFC destination of the CCMS agent. If the agent is not active, the system reads the monitoring data from the monitored SAP instance using the standard RFC, as previously (for more information, see SAP Note 322075). Note that even if you are using the SAPCCM4X agent, you still continue to need the standard RFC connection anyway.
