Hello Gurus,
As I told you earlier, I am new to APO so I have some doubts which I am not able to clear it from the theory/SAP help Library.
Please explain me the meaning of "Semantics,Key Figure functions,Catgrp,Cat" in the Planning Area.If you have any live example then that will be great to me.
What is the meaning of selecting 001 or 000 or 002 (Info Cube) as semantics.
Thanks in advance

Prabhat

I am sorry to say Senthil that still I am not able to understand.
What is the differnce between Semantics 001 and 002. How does the measning changes of key figure depending upon Semantics.
Can I understand that if Semantics is 001 then the key figure is saved in Live cache and if we give sementics as 002 then the key figure is saved in info cube.
There are so many semantics values for selection while creation of Plannning area.
Thanks,
Prabhat Sahay
Hi Prbhat,
1. If it is 000 then it store as order series means it will store with order number based on the atp category assigned in the PA.
2. If it is 001 then it stores in the livecache based on the time example your time bucket profile is weeks then the data entered in that KF is stored with that week bucket dates, it will not have any order reference.
3. If it is 002 then it stores in the infoquebe wich you have given in the planning area..
Hope this clarify your question.
Regards,
Kishore Reddy.
Thank you very much Senthil and Kishore.
I have acknowledged your help.

Hi Prabhat,
During the construction of key figure or planning
area, the semantic values will be assigned so
that it will perform its respective function in the
planning area and publish result in planning book
Hope you are clear now

Hi Prabhat,
1) Semantic:- You must assign a semantic to a key figure for read and
write operations. A key figure is usually a freely definable data container
that only takes on meaning once the key figure semantic has been assigned.
You assign one key figure semantic to each key figure. The system
chooses the relevant key figures or checks them based on their
semantic, depending on how you have configured the planning area.
000 = Semantics for order objects in liveCache
001 = Semantics for the standard time series in liveCache
002 = Semantics for InfoCube key figures
2) Key figure function represents the business meaning of a key figure
which is used in SNP say like substitution demand, substitution receipt,
stock on hand, safety stock etc.,
3) Category group is used to specify order categories say like for forecast
it is FC, etc.,
4) Category is simply order category which will be used by livecache to
store in demand planning.
