Cannot export universe in UDT. Fails to Commit and missing .unv in FRS

Hello, this is bit unusual behavior i have seen by UDT.

We recently upgraded to SAP 4.2 SP5 Patch2 from 4.1 SP4 Patch 4.we are on clustered windows environment and FRS is one network share accessible by clustered servers.

we dindnt to a inplace upgrade, we chose to do parallel upgrade. we moved the content using both promotion wizard and LCMCLI depends on volume of the content.

Issue we are facing currently. here is the work flow below.

  1. Login to Repo thru UDT as a universe Designer access
  2. Navigate and import the <Universe>.unv
  3. import success
  4. make changes
  5. export back to repository same location as import
  6. Export fails with error message as "Failed to commit the associated files of the objects to the file repository server: (<Univerese>,id 45263): File repository server error : could not complete the file transfer"
  7. click ok, next window could not export the universe.
  8. Close the window and try importing same <universe>.unv again Import fails with error messages "File Repo server error : File frs://Input/a_45/1125/0000/4546456/<universe>guid.unv not found on the reposrity"

this is bit scary when browse to the network path <Univserse>.unv file is missing from the network share.

any ideas would be appreciated. this is happening only to .unv. .unx are fine.

Appreciate any advise.

I had seen this type of problem in XI3. If you still have the universe in a valid condition in another environment, I would delete the universe (via CMC), and re-import with LCM. That should clear the corruption.

Haven't thought about the idea. this way clears out Metadata too.

Also SAP gave a call and they are asking us to do the REPO Scan to fix the "inconsistencies".

They are saying it is receommended to do Repo Scan after bulk migration. Any thoughts on Repo Scan?

I would be surprised if reposcan fixes it. If the files are gone, they're gone -- reposcan isn't going to put them back.

Can you promote one UNV universe again from old system to new system and check again? May be while doing the bulk promotion , might have gone something wrong.

Even after file is missing from FRS, I can still promote the .unv file from old to new.

even that problem still exists.
