Multiple Tariff Numbers in customs declaration

Hello experts,

I have a need to maintain a special HTS in import customs declaration along with the regular Tariff code, I see two fields for "Tariff Numbers" in the

import customs declaration but its unclear how to use the 2nd field for the same. What is the intent for two fields with same description? When I enter a value in the first field, it automatically populates the 2nd and vice-versa and it is not possible to enter two different tariff numbers in two fields. Thanks in advance.

Satish

Under your Number Scheme config, you can configure Additional Tariff Code. This is to support special provision tariff codes like the CH98 codes that are military duty free, US Goods Returned, etc. There is a strict set of criteria, in order to determine if that special provision code can be applied to the import declaration (a return/repair, US COO, etc). Some companies try to put this logic at the product master level. But it's truly transactional so you may need to do some enhancements based on order type, return/repair, COO, etc. to determine if the special provision code is applicable to the declaration or if you have to use the primary/normal tariff on the declaration.

Thanks, Jessica. I thought about the additional tariff code but the problem is we have to maintain the tariff numbers again (due to the new numbering scheme). I'm thinking of using end use. The other problem with new numbering scheme for the additional tariff code is the assignment to the legal regulation. You may know that under "Assign Scheme for Commodity Codes", only one numbering scheme code can be assigned for import and one for export so having this new numbering scheme for the additional tariff code will not fit into it (unless I create a new legal regulation).

Hi Dave,

According to the miscellaneous tariff bill that was introduced in October 2018, certain products have "special" tariff that qualify for zero duties. When this special tariff is specified along with the regular tariff, duties to be paid are zero. In the customs declaration, the two fields at item level (in tab General Data) are named Tariff Number & Tariff Number.

There is a technical issue with this forum's website so I'm unable to add the screenprint. There are too many issues with this revamped forum, hope SAP is listening!!!

Hi Satish,

Why do you need two different HTS numbers in an Import Declaration? In Customs processing, only one Tariff Code is possible - it describes the commodity and is the main key for calculation of the Customs Duty that should be levied by the authorities.

And which two fields are you talking about? Could you send a screen-shot?

Dave
