Are the books ABAP to the Future and OOP with ABAP Objects still relevant?

Hi

I am a beginner and I already bought Complete ABAP, Kiran Bandari.

I am thinking of buying the below 2 books.

ABAP to the Future, Paul Hardy && Object Orient Programming with ABAP Objects, James Wood and Joe Rupert.

Since these books are not cheap, I wanted to know if these are still relevant as these were published in 2016 & 2015 respectively.

Should I wait for any new books to come out, OR buy these? Kindly help.

Please suggest if any other good books I need to get to get a good grip on Important ABAP Concepts.

    Hi,

Both books are great to give you a solid foundation! The concepts in these books still apply. (And even if some of them might have changed / extended, you'll probably come in touch with clients that don't have the latest system version. So this knowledge wouldn't get lost)

I'd also recommend to read "Official ABAP Programming Guidelines" by Horst Keller and Wolf Hagen Thümmel!

    Best regards,

Since SAP / ABAP is generally backward compatible, the subjects in those books still apply.

Further up on the road, you might also want to check "Design Patterns in ABAP Objects" to improve your object oriented skills - in terms of architecture.
