Just tried upgrading a client with a virtual Windows server 2016.After going through a few QA steps we were unable to connect to the ADS server and received an Error 6420.
Here is a brief of working to resolve the connection problem.
1. shared the " Data" folder, and added the everyone group to give full permission
2. Allow ads to pass through the firewall
On client:
1. pinging worked so it tells me the client machine can talk to the server.
2. test map network drive. mapped the drive so now when I open the drive I can see the contents of Data folder on server, so that worked also.
My Findings:
The client machine can definitely communicate with the server, it just not able to connect to ADS 10
ADS error
Error 6420: The discovery process for the Advantage Database Server Failed. Unable to connect to the Advantage Database Server.
Normally with the ADS error above turning the firewall off on the server will resolve the issue, but not in this case.
