SAP Signature theme with High contrast mode

Is there a way to make High Contrast Mode usable for ABAP developers?

We are probably the ones who spend most time staring at SAP GUI. It would be nice if a proper dark theme, as high contrast or not, including monochrome or grey scale icons could be delivered. There are still some development tasks for which SAP GUI is the better solution, at least for me.

Theme: SAP Signature Theme

Theme Settings:
Activate animated focus: on
Show shadow border: on
Activate high contrast mode: on
Use Corbu style icons: on
Accept SAP Fiori visual theme: on

By the way, I also tried with the last two options off and that didn't help... it still looks horrible with the colour icons. ME23N looks quite good (apart from the icons), but editing an exception class in SE80 ... not good.

Compare SE80 with Eclipse dark theme and be reminded why the user interface never was SAP's strongest selling point 🙂

Hello Kjetil,

with SAP GUI for Windows 7.60 (shipment in Q1/2019) we will deliver a High Contrast Black (and by the way also a High Contrast White) theme based on the Belize theme. As you may know, Belize is using an icon font and no longer the old bitmap icons which are indeed looking very ugly in High Contrast Black. Personally I like the Belize High Contrast Black very much and it could very well be what you would like to see.

Give it a try after shipment of 7.60.

that sounds very great! Can not wait for it.
Is there a chance for little bit customization? Like in modern "dark themes", which are growing in UI these days (Mac OS Mojave, various mobile apps, Adobe software...). There is usually not just option for black background, but also very dark gray, or more shades of gray (not 50 🙂 ). It would be amazing update if the look will be like Adobe dark theme or Mojave dark theme 🙂

I have already seen the Belize high contrast themes in a Web Dynpro application and they do look quite good.
Still not a 'dark mode', so there will be a little room for improvement yet, but this was a piece of good news 🙂

There is no dark theme for SAPGUI. The high contrast theme is designed for users with visual impairments.

I was aware of that, that's why I asked if it could be made usable for developers. It's isn't completely horrible in many end-user transactions, but since it *is* completely horrible in SE80 and SE24 it is not usable for me as a developer.
I am not visually impaired to the extent that I need to use a high contrast theme, but perhaps I would be if I kept using the high contrast theme in SAP GUI 7.50 🙂

Not really, as the problem is not the text and background colour, it is the icons.
