IBP Stock balancing across DCs

Hello

Whenever we have an excess of stock at one DC and a deficit at another we would like the system to rebalance the stock (suggest a stock transfer) between DC before generating a Planned Order/Stock Transfer Requisition to the Manufacturing Plant. Does anyone know if any of the IBP modules does it?

Hi robvid - My suggestion is meant for IBP Supply, the 'Normalize Quota' is a parameter you see in the Heuristic where you need to choose 'proportional' option for your requirement. I don't think S&Op planning area has subnetwork planning option.

Hi Roberto - You may create one subnetwork for all DCs and assign a different subnetwork for plants. Then plan the DC subnetwork first as part of your Heuristic run. Post that, you may choose to go with plant subnetwork. This way, you will end up consuming the entire stock across all the DCs first and then start the fresh production.

You will have to use 'Normalize Quota' option while planning for the DC subnetwork so the quota doesn't restrict you from planning only partial quantity across DCs. Also, post the DC subnetwork planning, copy the results of STRs into minimum key-figures using a COPY operator so the subsequent run of Heuristic will know it has to plan only the DELTA quantity from plants.

Keep the quota %ages as 0 across DCs and 1 if sourcing from plants in the master data.

I should have mentioned in my original post, we have only IBP-SOP. Is what you are proposing something that we can do with only IBPO-SOP?

I'm initiating myself into IBP. Not fully implemented yet. I understand the first bit. As to Normalize Quota I'm not familiar with, is that something in IBP-SOP.

Your scenario is not possible to map in IBP.

Stock transfer requisition generation will not fulfill the overall purpose, basically, we need to understand the supply chain model and fulfillment process. Can you explain the scneario with example?

I give you an example

A factory in France produce Finish Good

Warehouse in Austria and Warehouse in Germany receive the same product.

The network is configured/set up for a one to one relationship: France-Austria and France-Germany.

If we have an excess of stock in Germany (say above Max Stock or a % above the Safety Stock or exceeding Coverage) we don't want the system to generate a requirement to the Plant (France), but instead to suggest or generate a stock transfer between the warehouse.

Before posting I looked into SAP and found only one reference posted many years ago (2012) and it made reference to APO SNP.
