Can you assign different rights to a user/group on two repositories?

Hello,

I have a problem with assigning rights to user/group on repositories. What I would like to do is that a user/group would have a right to execute a job on one repository, but not on the other. Is this even possible?

I tried a lot of different things, but until now, nothing worked. What happens is, that the user/group always has the same rights on all the repositories, that it can see. The rights are either an union or an intersection of the rights on both repositories.

Hi Eva,

Thanks for the detail explanation.

MY Bad!! , yes you are correct we can't assign\include a single user to 2 different user groups and have separate access on each repo's from Management console.

Hopefully in coming days, SAP would implement this option as well in its further releases.

Hi Shashi,

thank you for you answer, however my question is a bit more complicated. This is a more detailed explanation:

I have already created a user TEST, that is a member of groups TEST_MONITOR and TEST_DESIGNER. For groups I have defined rights on an application level so that users in group TEST_MONITOR can't execute jobs and users in TEST_DESIGNER can execute jobs. Then we have two repositories, on REPO1 we assigned Full Control rights to TEST_DESIGNER and on REPO2 we assigned View rights on TEST_MONITOR.

Now we log in Management Console with user TEST. What we see is that the user has the same rights on both repositories(can't execute jobs), which is not right, because we defined, that on REPO1 it should have rights to execute jobs.

The main question is, is there any scenario in which this could work? So can we have a user, that can have different rights on different repositories?

Eva

Hi Eva,

Yes the above option is possible ( if you are referring to execute the jobs from Management Console ).

Hope this link would be of some help to you - https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/EIM/Setting+various+rights+for+Data+Services
