Web Elements 2.45 with WACS

Hi Guys,

I am using Crystal Reports 2008 V1 and Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 evaluation versions. I installed WACS(as recomended) as server during the Crystal Reports Server installation. I am unable to pass through the HTML feature for WACS(Web Application Container Server) in Crystal reports. When I view the HTML Preview I still see the html code and not the elements. Web Elements hav provided ways to pas through HTML for other versions and server but nothing for 2008 Version and WACS. Can anyone let me know the proper solution to fix this.

Can anyone tell me some alternate solution to this problem if the above is not feasible?

Hi Jamie,

I have already gone through this post but it didn't work out. I have installed Crystal Report Server 2008 and Crystal reports 2008 V1 versions. I don't have the 'Web Content' folder as specified in the link you mentioned for the config file. Moreover, I also searched the whole folder for web.config file but I am still unable to find it. I suppose the directories are not same as it was in the previous versions of Crystal Reports Server. Any other alternative solution would be really appreciated.

on the machine that you are searching for the web config files, is there only 4 directories under the Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0 folder?

if so, could the crystal reports server components have been installed on another machine / server or drive?

Hi jamie,

No, there are a no. of directories under Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0 folder. Moreover the server is my machine itself. The application is being installed on one particular machine only. When i search for the web.config files, i get 4 results but none of the files matches the format prescribed in the solution thread. The 4 locations are as below:

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\crystalreportviewers12

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\warfiles\WebApps\CrystalReports\crystalreportviewers

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\warfiles\WebApps\jsfplatform\crystalreportviewers115

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\java\server\work\TCS090891.WebApplicationContainerServer\businessobjects\CrystalReports\12\CrystalReports-12.war\crystalreportviewers

All these contains a web.config. But none has the same tags as prescribed in the solution thread. Can this be a problem with the newer version of Crystal Report Server? Or there can be some other wayto get though with this prob.

Thanks for your time.

ahh...i think i have your answer...it looks like you've done a default installation of the wacs install without iis.

this requires a different method than the forum post i referred you to and a different one than the install guide...here's what you should do...

1) go to the C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\warfiles\WebApps\CrystalReports\WEB-INF

directory

2) open up the web.xml file with notepad (make a back up of it as well)

3) copy the follow java param and paste it right before the last context param in the web.xml file and then save the file

<context-param>

<param-name>crystal_encode_html_for_single_line_field_objects</param-name>

<param-value>no</param-value>

</context-param>

4) open the central configuration manager and go to manager servers and restart the wacs server...this will take a couple of minutes for it to restart

i tested the above on a brand new system with the default install on wacs and it worked aok.

Thanks a ton Jamie. It solved my problem. I can now view the web elements. Atleast i can now start studying the Web Elements and see its flexibility.

Do you have any tutorials from where I can get some good stuff on Web Elements?

good to see it worked!

click [here |http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/xi/roadshowvid06/webelements/webelementsdemo.html]to see a link to a video on webelements to get you started...

there is also a couple of step by step tutorials in the user guide near the beginning.

our team is also starting a "value added samples and demos" page [here|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/ValueAddedSamplesandDemos-Demo+Request]. so in the future if you want to see a certain work flow or sample in crystal reports please do use this page. i will be putting some webelements and crystal reports samples in there from time to time.

cheers,

jamie
