Upgrade SP 9 to SP 20 (SAP PI 7.0)

Dear Experts,

I have installed SAP PI 7.0. By default its SP level is 9. I want to raise it to SP20. As suggested in several blogs I logged in to service.sap.com... but got confused after seeing so many components in each SP level. Can anyone please let me know the basic essentials components which I need to download from Market place.

I will be mainly working with ECC to PI scenarios and with some adapters like JDBC, File and JMS. Thanks in Advance.

forget to to this manually:

Use solman maintenance optimizer, you will need it anyway to confirm the download

Solman

-> DSWP

-> operations

-> change management

-> maintenance optimizer

create new maintannce Transaction.

Phanikumar,

Assuming that your PI is ABAP+JAVA stack, you will need to do the following

1. Download the SP Stack from SPS9 to SP20 from service.sap.com/sp-stacks. Here go to SAP NetWeaver 7.0 --> Specify the Source and Destination SP Stack --> Uncheck everything except Process Integration (XI0) > Click Next> Select the Kernel --> Then select the OS and Database.

2. Download everything (You will need approval from Solution Manager).

3. You will need to upgrade the JAVA SPS to the latest using JSPM. Before that you will need to upgrade JSPM itself and the kernel. The instructions for this are present in the SPS upgrade guide.

4. Then proceed with the ABAP stack from SPAM.

For the names of the components that you need to select when upgrading, go to SPAM --> Select All Support Packages --. Display/Define. You will get a list of all the components you have in your system. Go with those while downloading the SP Stack.

Also, make sure to read the SPS Upgrade Guide to eliminate any known issues. Spending time on this will save you a lot of headaches later on during the upgrade.

Hope this helps.
