EWM GR process with "preprinted" HU

Hi,
during GR proces in EWM I want to use HU that where created before (and "empty" labels was already printed) the proces start - I create HU in /scwm/pack but with status PORT (In stock); When trying to assign HU to inbound delivery (in RF) I have error msg: E: Handling unit xxx already exists in the warehouse (/SCWM/RF_EN420).

Its possible to create HU in /scwm/pack with status planned and use them in GR proces? It should be internal or exterrnal numer range for that HU?

thanks,
M.

    Hi,

Standard EWM is behaving right. When you receive inbound delivery on the RF the system attempts to create a HU considering the internal number range assigned to the packaging material type. When you pass an existing HU (created by /SCWM/PACK) on the RF, it is checking if that number already exists in EWM or not.

What you want is possible if the pre printed HU number does not belong to the internal HU number range.

    regards,

    Hi Mark,

The fact that you want to use pre-printed labels does not mean that you need to create empty, planned HUs in the system. This is not even possible as far as I know - HUs with status "planned" need to have document reference.

But you can use pre-printed HU numbers and use them to create HUs in the moment of receiving goods. Just use the HU numbers to pack the inbound delivery. The system will create the HUs in the moment you need them and not before, which is really charming - why creating thousands of objects that you might never use?
