SMD Agent Upgradw

Hi,

We are in the process of configuring the SMD.

We have recently upgraded our Solman from SP15 to SP20. and more over satellite systems are also upgraded from Netweaver 7.0 to 7.1 and ECC to ECC 6.0 EHP4.

Out SMDs are running in 700 in all the managed systems. Is that mandatory to un install and install the latest SMD ie 7.01 on all the managed system.

Kindly guide me.

    Hi,

No need to upgrade your SMD agents. But you can consider upgrading your EM and Byte code agent to 8.

For new features of Wily Introscope Agent check these note 1273028, 797147, 1272620.

    Hope this answers your query.

    Feel free to revert back.

    Hello Sriram,

Normally, at the end of the installation, Diagnostics Agent 7.11 is installed in managed system running on NW 7.11.

It means that you do not need any longer SMD Agent 7.00.

You can uninstall it - we cannot upgrade SMD Agent 7.00 to Diagnostics Agent 7.11.

You have to uninstall it with SAPINST.

Please read OSS Note 1365123. There are very interesting information related Agent Strategy.

Please also read the following guide :

I hope it will help you.

    Best regards

      Hello pascal,

I found a IMG guide about the same.

"As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 based installation, the agent is automatically installed with the managed system. For installations performed with prior releases of SAP NetWeaver, the installation needs to be done manually.

As the Diagnostics agent belongs logically to the managed system it is updated automatically with the update of SAP Solution Manager. This means that in case of an upgrade, it is not needed to update the agent manually."

      Best Regards,

      Sriram.S
