How to generate Solution Manager Key for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 installation

Hi All,

I am in the middle of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 installation(with Oracle s DB) on Windows 2008 64-bit platform and stuck at a point wherein the installation proces is asking for Solution Manager key. I did some browsing and found out few ways to generate keys:

1. Using SMSY transaction

Reason i could not use: I am not aware of the process of how to use SAP Easy access and also i believe it is not possible to use this transaction without completing the Net Weaver installation

2. Installation process prompts for generating Solution Manager Key

Reason i could not use: There was no prompt for generating Solution Manager key while doing installation

Here i am not able to move forward without using Solution Manager Key and i am not aware of the process of generating key.

Please let me know if i have missed something while doing installation and suggest me the way i can generate Solution Manager Key.

Thanks for the information Zia.

I believe i have Solution Manager installed on different Windows box.

1. Can i use it to generate Solution manager Key for my instance id?

2. Do i need to provide details of this Solution Manager in the System Landscape Directory(SLD) screen of NetWeaver installation by selecting SLD destination as "Register in existing SLD (default)" and here provide the details of the Solution Manager installed on different box?

or if something else needs to be done then please let me know.

Hi David,

1. You can use the solution manager in your landscape to generate the solman key for your installation. Please use the above given procedure to generate.

2.You must decide on the SLD part before you select "Register Central SLD" i.e. You should decide whether you want to have a central SLD for your landscape or local SLD. If you have multiple SAP systems, then you can go for Central SLD. Please check the SLD post installation guide available on the marketplace.

From the previous answer it looks like i need to install Solution Manager component. If i am correct then can anyone please provide the link to install Solution Manager for Win 2008 64-bit box.

If not then please suggest some way to reach the Solution Manager UI

without solution manager key how did you plan the installation , solution manager key is must for netweaver installation

For Installation of sap system will ask for solution manager key for getting solution manager key you have to install solution manager then generate solution manager key.

You can get solution manager software from sap market place ( https://websmp104.sap-ag.de/support ; -

> SAP Technology Components"----> SAP SOLUTION MANAGER . Then you have to get solution manager software.

hi ,

Login to solution manager system execute SMSY then add the server i.e hostname then go to system select the type of system netweaver right click on it create the system enter the sid and the installation number then go to the tab systemlanscape then select the object eneter the sid and click on generate key ur solmon key will be generated. you can paste the same SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 installation it will proceed further.
