Excel report dos not open in browser

Hello,

I am using reporting url to view report in browser. When run in the browser, it pops up a small window asking if "Do you want to open or save the file?". If I select open, it will open the Mircosoft Excel application and display the report. I would expect it would open the excel in the browser.

I am using Crystal Report 2008 V1.

Here is the url I am using:

http://<Server>/CrystalReports/viewrpt.cwr?EXPORT_FMT=U2FPDF%3a0&cmd=EXPORT&promptex-param_id=-1&id=...

Thanks in advance!

Moved to Report Design forum.

This would be as expected. I don't recall if Microsoft has a Excel plugin for viewing Excel spread sheets in a browser session. Search Microsofts WEB site for how to or if it's supported.

Also try, Right click on the file and select open with, browse to iexplorer.exe and see if that works. If not then MS doesn't support Excel files in IE.

Thank you

IE will show an Excel file within the browser window, but Firefox doesn't seem to do that. It opens Excel and loads the report into it. (I don't think there's a plugin required for IE to open Excel within the browser window, but I could be wrong...)

Don,

I right clicked the file and select open with IE. It did open in IE.

I ran a report in excel format in XIR2 server. It opens the excel in browser. But in Crystal Report Server 2008, it does not.

Carl,

I use IE, not firefox to open it.

Thanks again for both of you replied!
