API Portal not accessible

Hi,

I have a trial account on SAP Cloud. When I try to access API Portal I get following error:

There is a temporary problem in provisioning your account, please try again by clicking on Retry. In case the problem persists, please create an incident in the component OPU-API-OD-OPS for further assistance.

I tried to assign also some available roles for API Portal, but it did not help. Also Developer Portal only dislays error:

Error in fetching resources.

Does anyone have a clue what is wrong? I only have a P-user.

Thanks.

    Hi,

I managed to get rid of the error message by removing some roles from my Cloud user. I found this page describing what roles are needed:

    https://help.sap.com/viewer/66d066d903c2473f81ec33acfe2ccdb4/Cloud/en-US/a1fd1fd03a1048c988aff3ea139fbaad.html

Problem is however that now I do not see any buttons/menus in API Portal so it is unusable. Can anyone with fully working API Portal please check if he has any other roles?

    Thank you.

    • Hi Pavol,

Are you using the Trial or a Productive version of SAP API Management? The Trial version has been hammered lately, as it was used in the OpenSAP Course https://open.sap.com/courses/cp8 which had almost 12,000 enrollees, stressing the trial DB. In this case there are some rare glitches with the onboarding, which we can look into if you like.

The roles you should have for the API Portal are very limited: By default you are assigned APIPortal.Administrator APIManagement.SelfService.Administrator and APIPortal.Service.CatalogIntegration

However you should either have access or not, the roles would not affect the appearance of Icons.

    Hi Elijah,

I have a trial account. I wanted to do that OpenSAP course you are mentioning and try what SAP APIs can do. Portal may be down as also a friend of mine who was able to use it before has now the same screen as I do.

I played with the authorizations and I know that if you have more roles (not sure which ones) then you get the error:

There is a temporary problem in provisioning your account, please try again by clicking on Retry. In case the problem persists, please create an incident in the component OPU-API-OD-OPS for further assistance.

I was receiving it already multiple times as I am playing with the roles.

I hope SAP can fix the portals soon.

    Thanks.

    BR,

    Pavol

    • Hi Pavol,

I believe this may be due to a misconfiguration of the DB due to the high demand on our trial system by the Open SAP course.

You have 2 options which I can recommend for you at this time

      1) Sign up for a Trial Account on a different email, giving you a new P#, and enable API Management from scratch

      2) Message me your P# or S# so that we can follow up on your account issue and hopefully reset the state so you can continue to use your existing account.

      Regards,
      Elijah

Hi Elijah, I'm facing the same issue as Pavol. However, I am not following the openSAP course, but the developer tutorial, at https://developers.sap.com/tutorials/hcp-apim-create-provider.html You know my I-number.

Thank you and happy new year,

    Andreas
