Difference between BO XI 3.1 SP2 (client + sever) downloads

We used the original BO XI 3.1 SP2 (client + sever) download to update our environment about 1 month ago (note: we have subsequently added fix pack 2.1). We deleted the download to save space, but we now want to create another environment and have gone to the download site and found that the download has changed to BO XI 3.1 SP2 (client + sever) update.

I have checked the documentation and the forum since the update was released (15 October) and there does not appear to be any explanation of why the download was updated.

What is in the 'update' package that was not in the original?

Do I have to amend my initial installation by uninstalling the initial SP2 and then install the updated SP2?

Regards

Jason

No new functionality was added to SP2, but we had long install issues so a new version was added that is quicker with the silent install options (from my understanding).

There was a posted work around to the long install problems by using the silent install but even some customers had issues with the work around so the update was added for them. To get details about the work around search SAP notes from SMP keywords SP2 slow.

    • Hi,

A few things I noticed when I was running a silent install on the latest SP2 package. It tries to find the businessobjects.msi file why? The setup is businessobjects.msp and I guess its looking for the BOE RTM setup file.

I did not have it so I did the Graphical UI install which was quite quick, but although I selected deploy all war files and the installer actually showed that it was deploying war files, all webapps were missing only WEB-INF folders were there. So

I had to redeploy all. Any reason for this?

      Thanks,

      Chris
