Move SAP S/4HANA VMs from one subscription to other subscription

Dear SAP team,

My client have 6 months valid SAP CAL subscription and we have created and activated SAP S/4HANA 1709 FPS01, Fully-Activated Appliance in our azure subscription.

Now my client is requesting if we can move VMs created from our azure resource group and subscription to client resource group and subscription.

2 VMs have been provisioned (S/4HANA installed in one VM and SAP NetWeaver installed in other VM) during creation of SAP S/4HANA 1709 FPS01, Fully-Activated Appliance instance.

We would like to understand the impact/ implications SAP CAL perspective like below queries :-

  • Hope SAP S/4HANA 1709 FPS01, Fully-Activated Appliance instance will be moved without any issues as same VMs will be moving from one subscription and resource group to client subscription and resource group. Please correct me if I am wrong here.
  • Is there any best practice to move VMs (having SAP S/4HANA and NetWeaver installed) from our azure subscription to client subscription?
  • If any cost related impact?

Looking forward for an early help.

Regards,

Husain Ali

    Dear Husain Ali,

The scenario you have described is not supported in SAP CAL. It is a legal requirement that the same party must own the SAP CAL subscription, the SAP product licenses and the cloud provider account.

Please provide the instance ID in an email to cal.admin@sap.com to let us check if anything else than re-creating the instance is possible.

    Best regards,

    Stanimir

    Dear Stanimir,

    Thank you for your response.

I have shared the instance ID in an email to cal.asmin@sap.com.

    Just rephrasing my query

"SAP S/4HANA 1709 FPS01, Fully-Activated Appliance environment on our Azure subscription is activated and working as expected, however now client is asking if we can move all this from our azure subscription to their subscription as they have their own cloud subscription."

If it is feasible then how the existing created SAP CAL instance will understand / point to the new subscription?

    Regards,

    Husain Ali
