Hey guys,
We want to implement a business unit reporting via profit centers. The cost center structure differs, it is designed by function. Therefore, we want to derive the profit center from a different object instead of the cost center. The purchasing organisation is structured the same as the profit centers, so this might be one way. So my question is, can I derive the profit center from the purchasing organization (maybe via user exit)? The same applies for the sales organization.
Your help is really appreciated.
Cheers

For SD try sapnote 1532865 - FAQ: Profit center in billing document
For MM, Profit Center is assigned to the material through Plants. The field is MARC-PRCTR
AFAIK, you can only have one hierarchy for Profit Center or Cost Center.

Hi Daniel,
Profit Center is derived from Cost Center.
In case of MM you could set a Proft center for Material Master.
Starting SAP EhP5 you could do a profit center reorganization if you need a total reorg. I would suggest to read SAP note 1801767.

Hi Gustavo,
Thanks, but this is not an option. As already mentioned, cost centers are designed by function and not by business unit. In addition materials will be used by different profit centers, that is why a profit center assignment within the material master does not serve our needs.
Cheers D
